Bruins Look to Drop a Car Bomb on the Fight Irishing This Saturday

For those who have successfully secreted from memory the finale of last years Notre Dame game, congratulations. For those who don’t remember, let me refresh your memory. With 62 seconds remaining and UCLA leading 17 to 13, enter Buddha and his cohorts Rudy Huxtable and Tony the Tiger. Combining their mythical powers, these three heavenly gods entered Brady Quinn’s body via his gaping a-hole and provided Quinn with the gigantic nutsack of Joe Montana to march 80 yards in three plays and score the winning touchdown.

The Bruins will take the field on Saturday looking to avenge last years defeat. They will be facing a different team this year with Quinn and Samardzija having both moved on to pro football and pro baseball respectively. To date the Irish’s season has been abysmal, and they are currently winless with five loses. This game will not be a gimme for the Bruins, as the Irish will be thirsty for their first win.

To ensure a victory, the Bruins will need to provide the consistent offensive presence that has eluded them since the start of the season. This will not only be important to beat the Irish, who have already flexed their own offensive strengths by scoring an average of 9.2 points per game, but also in preparation for the Bruins upcoming match-up against the hated California Bears.

A solid offensive showing by the Bruins this Saturday will lay on the shoulders of quarterback Ben Olsen. Coming off a recent injury and multiple mormonesque performances this season, Big Ben will look to build on last weeks second half success against Oregon State. The Bruins were shown a glimpse of Olsen’s potential last week with a beautifully thrown 30 yard touchdown pass to Brandon Breazell to seal up last weeks victory.

Let’s hope the Bruins carry last week’s momentum into Saturday and dominate Notre Dame. Prediction? UCLA 20, Notre Dame 17.
