The Legendary Wooden

Please take some time out of your busy workday to learn more about the wizard of Westwood, John.

Here's a few to get you started:
A Poem by the Wizard.

"Where have you been Something Bruin? I've craved your daily posts and witty commentary since the Bruins lost to Texas! Are you fair-weather fans? That's so typical of Bruins....I heard you guys are calling it quits after 2 long months, please say it ain't so..."

It ain't so. After tens of thousands of emails (+/- tens of thousands of emails) asking about the status of Something Bruin, we are back to bring to our international fanbase the inside info (provided via posts to other people with inside info) about our beloved Bruins.

It looks like the Wear twins are headed to North Carolina. Maybe it's a good thing since the last time we tried to recruit a pair of tree-twins our coach was fired for recruiting infractions.

On a more positive note, the Bruins looked good against Stanford and Cal. Westbrook is a total stud and has matured at an exponential pace this season. Howland has now recruited two guards in Collison and Westbrook who were not highly touted out of high school but could both be first round draft picks.

More here on UCLA's coaching hunt.

Our defensive coordinator was officially interviewed for the position.

Some Davidson fans figured out what most of us already know:

"I think we just played the team that will win the national championship. This was the best game [Davidson] played all year."

The LA Times has a pretty funny story about a kid the reneged his commitment to UCLA for Duke. How did that turn out for you?

Sorry for the extended absence. I'm back today with more inane links:

After beating Davidson on Saturday, we dropped one spot in the AP poll to 8th. I guess the voters don't look kindly on 18 point first half deficits to crappy teams.

Bruin Basketball Report has a recruiting update.

This news is pretty hilarious. Its as if you dumped your girlfriend because she got fat, and then a friend starts dating her. In fact we should all be hoping he gets the job...as explained here.

Daily News has an update on our short list of possible coaches.

UCLA is a 6.5 point dog against BYU in the Vegas Bowl.

Dewayne Walker is interviewing for our head coaching position...

We have hired the two Bobs from Office Space to help us with the coaching search.

The Trojan's master plan to move into the Rose Bowl moved forward...now all they need is our permission. I say we give it to them in exchange for a couple of recruits.

Check out this preview of our game against Davidson this weekend.

A walk-on from our team was almost the best player on Davidson's quad.

Howland had a press conference, he is trying to keep things positive. One of the more interesting tidbits from the press conference is that Keefe has been cleared to practice. I had to reread this headline a few times before I believed it.
In football news, Dorrell will not coach our bowl game, and Dewayne Walker will be the interim coach.

The Trojans got beat in overtime by Memphis last night. Normally I would be pleased, but so far this year the Pac-10 has not represented very well and we need to get some decent wins if we want respect during the tourney selection process.
