Well, it finally happened. Now we have to figure out what happens next. Our AD had a press conference and revealed a few things about the firing and the ensuing search. Check out these tidbits:

"I believe we can be a national player and you can define that however you want. I believe UCLA could be a program that is in the national rankings every year, that can knock on a BCS door, that can win the Pac-10 Conference..."

"We raised a budget from $42 million when I first came in here to $60 million and we’re still in the black. That tells you that we’ve done some things that are very positive and will allow us the opportunity to be more competitive in the marketplace as we move forward..."

So, Guerrero wants to be a national player and he is willing to pay for a good coach. At least that is what is he has said. We will see in the next few weeks if he follows through.

In basketball, we dropped down to number 8. This seems a little too low to me, but basically most of the undefeated teams jumped ahead of us.

It's unofficially official

Hi everybody! Great news...it is being reported that Dorrell was given his walking papers today. Many different sources have confirmed it. Boo yeah busta, Hasta lasagna don't get any on ya, Whoop there it is, etc. A greater man than me once said..."You're fired."

As expected, we lost to USC on Saturday and are now headed to the Pioneer Las Vegas bowl to play BYU. The game was actually not a blow out (we beat the spread), but we really did not have a chance at winning the game. The good news? Well, now it is time to get rid of Dorrell. He gave us one last reason to hate him. And now, the search for a new coach is officially on. Here is a discussion of one thing that is very important in our quest ($$$).

In basketball, we lost last night to the Longhorns From Texas. The tale of the game was rebounding...we were out-rebounded for the first time this season. The (only) good news from the game - M'bah Moute finally showed up to play. He was by far the biggest bright spot in the game as many of our other guys failed to show up...including Kevin Love. Texas played really well, shooting the lights out most of the game, especially some dude named James. At the game, it felt like we were going to win for most of the second half and Luc had a good shot for the win. That is about all you can say about the game...I guess it is good to get this out of the way now...eff that, I wanted to go undefeated this season. Anyone want to buy some season tickets? I wonder if I should reserve www.hanghowland.net?

Cowan is going to start this weekend.

Our boys are representing in the NBA right now.

Finally, a decent article detailing the uphill battle that our football recruiters face. By the way, I don't see why we give a shit about football player's academics.

That's it for the week. A couple big games this weekend. See you all out there.

Apparently, USC is trying to sleep with our girlfriend...that just ain't right.

If you are making plans to watch the game this weekend, this might be useful.

A moment of silence please for the flaming mohawk.

Preview of the basketball game tonight can be found here- DC (and Roll) may play a little tonight!

Oh, and Dan Guerrero may have let slip that he was planning on firing Dorrell next Sunday. An LA Times reporter explains how at the end of an interview Guerrero said "See you next Sunday" - an odd thing to say since reporters never talk to Athletic Directors on Sundays...unless a special press conference is scheduled.

We have taken our rightful spot at the top of the coaches poll...I have no idea what AP is thinking.

The Klover was named Pac-10 player of the week.

This article points out how our destiny in the last game this year is much like Dorrell's entire tenure as out coach...all or nothing.

Good news...Cowan will be available for the game - Bad news...Dorrell has no idea who he is going to play.

Here is your chance to prepare for the USC game with a bunch of geeks and outcasts.

Aboya Update

Update: Good news, Aboya will play against GW Wednesday, fracture to orbital bone not as bad as it could have been.

More bad news for the Bruins on the injury front as Aboya has a fracture in his eye-bone. This does not sound good, but apparently he might be able to play with a mask (a la Rip Hamilton). We will know more by the beginning of next week.

Also, we destroyed Yale last night.
